This genealogical one name study arose from a quest that began in the 1970's to learn more about the origin of the Springford surname. Rather surprisingly it was quickly discovered that the family originated in the English county of Wiltshire and had used the name Springbat(t) before about 1800. Springford and Springfoot(e) had been an alias, used occasionally but which eventually replaced the original surname. In one village the family name changed into Springbett and Springbatt was abandoned by all parts of the family. The results of this study are on this website.
